A global conference DatacenterDynamics Mumbai is specifically designed to fill the knowledge and networking needs for both those responsible for the design, build an operation of IT facilities as well as key IT decision makers responsible for strategic decisions regarding capacity planning and technology investment.

Whilst India represents the IT and business process outsourcing hub for the World, the question of reliability in the IT infrastructure realm is still a challenge. As businesses rationalise the resources involved in maintaining in-house data centre’s against a fully outsourced IT strategy, the question that will ultimately be raised in the decision making process is “Will low cost out-weigh reliability?” when it comes to planning for IT driven business functions?

DCD Mumbai is the first conference to address this issue from both sides of the coin. Designed to accommodate both IT and Facilities Management professionals (as well as those with one foot firmly planted in both camps), DCD Mumbai will not only evaluate and provide important information about how to best develop an outsourcing strategy for your IT infrastructure, but also provide best practices on making the most of your existing data centre facilities in the face of unreliable power infrastructure, a climate that is not conducive to free cooling and the internal pressures to minimising the need for further capital outlay whilst meeting your business requirement.

Don’t miss the first conference in 2011 to answer the question of why & how you should build out, co-locate or outsource your data centre to meet your company’s insatiable demand for processing power.

Global Knowledge, Local Insight

In order to guarantee that our conference programs meet the needs of our audience, we have developed a methodology that we use across all DatacenterDynamics event locations that we call ‘Global Knowledge, Local Insight’.

CtrlS offers yet another unique offering to its customers, the on-demand Private Cloud

Although organizations are excited about using cloud technologies to bring in IT spend efficiency in the organization, they are still apprehensive about data security when migrating to the public cloud, but while Private clouds are really secure, they are also expensive. CtrlS offers a solution that cuts mid-way.

Hyderabad, February 9, 2011
CtrlS, the leading, global data center solution provider today announced another unique solution proposition to their customers, a first-of-its-kind on-demand Private Cloud. Today, almost all organizations, across verticals are eagerly evaluating cloud technologies. Many of them are even considering cloud computing in the immediate future in order to streamline and optimize their IT spend. But typically, the CTO across organization faces the same dilemma before taking a decision: Will I be compromising the security of my organization data by moving into a public cloud?

While Private Clouds are an ideal solution to this problem, it is not exactly a viable solution for small and mid-sized organizations as the spend for the Private Cloud is prohibitively expensive and on-demand scale up or scale down isn’t efficient as the resources are kept idle in both cases.

With CtrlS’s on-demand Private cloud framework, organizations can now avail the benefits of a Private Cloud and also scale up and down as per need as you can in a Public Cloud solution. The costs too are scaled down without any significant additional capex or opex, making it an ideal solution for organizations who want the Private Cloud, yet also have the flexibility of scale and at costs that are definitely not prohibitive.

Says Mr.Sridhar, CMD, CtrlS Datacenters, “On-demand Private Cloud is a never-see-before concept and an extremely innovative framework that we believe will bring cloud computing solutions close to organizations. It is also the ideal solution for small and mid-sized organizations who are eagerly considering a cloud solution, but with robust security features, provision to scale up or down and with costs that fit well into their budgets. On-demand Private Cloud offers the best of both Public and Private Clouds”.

CtrlS brings DR on Demand, a first-of-its-kind solution in India

DR on Demand is a fresh, innovative solution from CtrlS that offers a unique valuable proposition to organizations big and small. Enterprises can now implement a comprehensive DR solution at a fraction of the cost.

Hyderabad, November 25, 2010:

CtrlS, the leading data center solution provider, today announced the launch of an innovative, first-of-its-kind solution in India: Disaster Recovery on Demand. CtrlS’s DR on Demand framework is built to align to enterprises – large and medium – DR strategy by offering a robust Disaster recovery solution at a cost that suits their budget. CtrlS is using “scalable, ready to deploy private cloud architecture” for this framework. With this solution, CtrlS now supports the full LAMP and Windows Stack for on demand disaster recovery services. Despite various research findings pointing out the importance of a DR solution, and the fact that organizations without a DR plan fail to recoup without it when disaster strikes, many companies do not implement a DR solution. Although this puts them in serious risk, organizations try to put it away shying away from the costs associated with DR, especially as there is no immediate ROI.

The DR on Demand framework is a pioneering concept that will change the way enterprises look at DR. DR on Demand now ensures that you have almost the same benefits as that of a complete DR site, at a fraction of the cost. This offering extends the following benefits:

Zero Capex

Organizations can get customized DR plans based on their requirements and pay only when they use the DR solution

Customer gets the best DR solution from a data center with BS 25999 certification

And, importantly, organizations can save up to 40% of the costs associated.

In a traditional approach to DR, companies invest in all hardware/software resources at DR site upfront as its not possible to arrange these in a few hours in the event of a disaster. Now, CtrlS guarantees stocks for most of these resources and makes them available in the event of a disaster through this new approach (CtrlS DR on Demand Framework). So the organization can store the data in CtrlS evaults and be able to make the DR site up and running in a few hours! This makes it an offering that towers over other DR offerings in the market in terms of accessibility and cost. CtrlS aims to reach out to the large and medium-sized enterprises with this offering.

According to Mr.Sridhar, CMD, CtrlS Datacenters, “DR on Demand is a revolutionary concept and a solution which will impact the technology landscape positively. I am confident and excited that DR on Demand will be the answer to Large and Medium Enterprises who are looking for a robust, yet, cost effective solution that will help them spring back in the event of disaster”.

About CtrlS

Pattern of growth in the data center market in India over the last couple of year and how it is poised to grow in the coming 3-5 years?

The existence of data centers in India can be traced back to more than a decade. But most of them were out of business with the dot com melt down in 2000, because their business model was structured around the growing number of Dot-Com companies. The Indian data center market has traditionally been dominated by captive data centers. Few of the 3rd party data centers were Telco’s and companies providing bandwidth like Reliance, Sify, etc. The Indian data center market grew very slowly till 2004 due to the high cost of hosting which can be attributed to the expensive bandwidth. But with the bandwidth costs going down drastically data centers in India is all set for a giant leap. As a matter of fact, India is all set to become competitive to US by Mid 2008 for hosting a 3 kW rack. Conservative estimates suggest that the overall data center market is poised to grow annually at least 25 -35% for the next 3 years. Data Center Industry in India will see the following trends in future:

Increasing power density

Consequent cooling challenges

Energy Efficiency

Green Datacenters

How big or small is India within APAC

India currently has 9% data center market share in Asia. This is projected to go up to14% by 2012. Manufacturing and Financial services form ~53% of the data center market size in India followed by Public Sector-11% and Telecom-9%

How is in house data center market faring Vis a Vis 3rd Party IDC

If you look at the present Data center market in India, it is mostly captive data centers. As a matter of fact they are double the third party data centers. But the success story of data centers in India is being written by third party data centers.

The above graph clearly tells us that the growth in data center industry in the coming years would be driven by 3rd party data centers. Of the 7 million sft of data center space to be added in the next 4 years, more than 90% of it would be 3rd party data centers.

Companies in the past were concerned about outsourcing their data center because of concerns like security, availability, accountability and Intellectual property rights. Scarcity of quality data center space was also an issue. With the entry of focused data center companies in India i.e. the Managed Service providers, the trend is quickly shifting to outsourcing of data centers by companies cutting across sectors like Financial Service, Manufacturing, Portals, SAAS Providers, etc. These MSP’s not only address the security concerns of the company but also provided additional benefits like Superior Infrastructure, Scalability, Zero Capex, Expertise and option to choose bandwidth providers which will not give them the highest availability but also lead to considerable amount of cost saving. Strategically outsourcing helps them deliver what they are best at i.e. focusing on their business, their core area of expertise.

I strongly believe that the 3rd Party data center market will grow by 80% annually for the next 3 years. This is due to factors like

Decreasing trend in bandwidth cost

More than 10 new Telcos have been given licenses increasing the effective competition.

New applications driving up data center demand. Gartner predicts that 33% of Software will be sold as service

Increased incidence of IT usage by companies

Globalization of Indian Companies

And with talks about technologies like cloud computing, where is this expected to go?

Cloud computing is the way companies would meet all their requirements of hardware and software with IT infrastructure hosted in huge data centers. Data centers would become a necessity for all enterprises and would be the heart of all their computing requirements. This would not only reduce the costs associated with hardware and software for companies but also significantly reduce their operation costs. The future of processing and storage lies in Cloud Computing, Grid Computing &Virtualization which will be provided by data centers.
