Understanding the Cloud

Understanding the cloud is quite like checking into the hotel of your dreams
Cloud is not just a technology. It is a model of delivering services that companies and consumers subscribe to. It is like the difference between renting or buying a corporate guesthouse, spending your time and money on maintenance, and checking into a business hotel when you travel for work.
The end result remains the same; you get a roof over your head and a comfortable place to stay when you travel, but the nature of services differ slightly. While a company guesthouse would seem like the logical fit for someone who travels to another city regularly for work, it comes with hassles like monthly rentals, maintenance costs, and doesn't look after food and laundry needs. Choosing to check into a hotel in every city that you travel to, on the other hand, gives you several options like a range of standards to choose from, conveniences like room services, a restaurant, laundry and housekeeping, for a daily fee; a price you don't mind paying for efficient, dependable service that keeps you comfortable and lets you concentrate on your job.
At its most basic form, this has been the understanding of what the Cloud can do for organizations. It is the buzzword, synonymous with everything from energy efficiency, to cost-cutting, productivity on the move and so much more but at CtrlS, we're obsessed with turning traditional methods of business delivery on their heads, to see what greater value we can deliver to our clients. We thrive on devising ways to deliver essential services that they are missing out on because they cannot set up them up themselves. Services that could revolutionize your business in ways you didn't imagine.
Questioning conventional ways of doing business is in CtrlS' DNA, and when it comes to the Cloud, it is no different. Here are some statistics. Cloud computing is expected to grow from USD 400 Million to USD 4.5 Billion by 2015, in India. Yet, current trends show that in 2010-11, Cloud infrastructure was a minuscule 1.4% of the total IT spend of companies, revealing a rather sluggish adoption pattern.
Staying with our hotel analogy, could it be then, that while we are all aware of the conveniences of checking into a hotel, we wish service would go one step further and include extras like airport transfers by default? Or perhaps hotels that let us streamline how we pay for regularly using their services? The wishful lot amongst us might even expect to get perks and discounts for being loyal, regular guests; and home-cooked food suited to our palates, even when away from home.
When it comes to Cloud services, we believe the sky is the limit and we believe that expecting the extra perks, the bells and whistles, is not wishful thinking. By opening the eyes of Indian industries to the potential of Cloud, we're aiming to revolutionize IT services, how they are delivered and what they mean to the companies using them.
At CtrlS, we don't want you to settle for what you think the Cloud can give you. We want to devise new ways to harness the Cloud to give you what you need.
By marrying the potential of the Cloud (as a model), with our understanding of what your business needs, we've come up with a power pack of essential services and offerings that we believe businesses need desperately.
- Zero Data Loss
- Private cloud
- Disaster Recovery on demand
- Storage and back-up services

If you thought the Cloud was just about efficiency, cost-savings and productivity, think again. Stepping up to the Cloud could change the way you look at IT infrastructure and services and it could even change the way you do business. One that has the potential to preemptively guess your needs before you are even aware of them. If all of this sounds incredible, speak with us and we'll show you how CtrlS can make all of this happen, for you.
